This virtual session looks at how constant exposure to news, global conflicts, and social media affects the mental health of children and teens. It is designed for parents, youth (12+), caregivers, and educators who want practical ways to reduce “doomscrolling” and support healthier media habits at home or in the classroom.
Guided by a licensed mental health professional (to be announced), we will:
- Explore how algorithms, breaking news, and conflict‑related content can impact stress, sleep, and mood
- Recognize signs that online content is becoming harmful or overwhelming for young people
- Co‑create realistic family or classroom media guidelines that youth are more likely to follow
- Share simple apps, practices, and routines that help move from endless scrolling to more regulated, values‑based engagement with the world
This discussion is educational and supportive, with opportunities for reflection rather than personal disclosure. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how digital content shapes youth mental health and concrete ideas they can start using right away.
