SUMMARY:From Scrolling to Soothing: Social Media\, Global Conflict News & Y
 outh Mental Health
DESCRIPTION:This virtual session looks at how constant exposure to news\, g
lobal conflicts\, and social media affects the mental health of children a
nd teens. It is designed for parents\, youth (12+)\, caregivers\, and educ
ators who want practical ways to reduce “doomscrolling” and support he
althier media habits at home or in the classroom.\n\nGuided by a licensed
mental health professional (to be announced)\, we will:\n\n Explore how a
lgorithms\, breaking news\, and conflict‑related content can impact stre
ss\, sleep\, and mood\n Recognize signs that online content is becoming h
armful or overwhelming for young people\n Co‑create realistic family or
classroom media guidelines that youth are more likely to follow\n Share
simple apps\, practices\, and routines that help move from endless scrolli
ng to more regulated\, values‑based engagement with the world\n\nThis di
scussion is educational and supportive\, with opportunities for reflection
rather than personal disclosure. Participants will leave with a clearer u
nderstanding of how digital content shapes youth mental health and concret
e ideas they can start using right away.
