Virtual Community Discussion

Caregiving can be deeply meaningful, but the ongoing emotional and practical demands can also lead to exhaustion and burnout. This virtual discussion helps caregivers recognize early warning signs of burnout and explore practical ways to care for themselves while continuing to support others.

Guided by a mental health professional or experienced facilitator (to be announced), this interactive session will:

  • Identify common signs of caregiver burnout, including emotional exhaustion, irritability, and withdrawal

  • Explore how chronic stress can affect mental and physical well-being

  • Introduce realistic self-care strategies such as setting boundaries, taking micro-breaks, and asking for support

  • Highlight available supports including peer groups, respite options, and counselling resources

  • Help participants begin creating a simple, personalized “Care for the Caregiver” action plan

This session is designed for family caregivers, parents, partners, and anyone supporting a loved one through ongoing health or mental health challenges.

The discussion will be held in a respectful, supportive learning environment. Participants may engage at their comfort level and will leave with practical strategies for sustaining their own well-being and information about KAPWB programs and community supports.
