SUMMARY:Stigma at Home: Families\, Caregivers\, and Cultural Beliefs
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Community Discussion\nThis virtual discussion explores 
 how stigma around mental health can appear within families and across gene
 rations. Cultural beliefs\, silence\, and misunderstandings can sometimes 
 make it harder for people to seek help or speak openly about their struggl
 es. This session focuses on recognizing these patterns and learning more s
 upportive ways to talk about mental health at home.\nGuided by a mental he
 alth professional (to be announced)\, this interactive workshop will:\n\n\
 n 	\nExplore how stigma can appear in everyday family interactions\, inclu
 ding silence\, minimizing\, or blame\n\n 	\nReflect on how cultural and ge
 nerational experiences shape beliefs about mental health\n\n 	\nExamine co
 mmon myths and assumptions through short group activities and discussion\n
 \n 	\nIntroduce practical communication tools such as validation\, curiosi
 ty-based questions\, and supportive language\n\n 	\nProvide opportunities 
 to practice responding to real-life family situations in a respectful lear
 ning environment\n\n\nThis session is designed for parents\, caregivers\, 
 family members\, educators\, and community supporters who want to foster m
 ore open and compassionate conversations about mental health within famili
 es and communities.\nThe discussion will be held in a respectful\, non-jud
 gmental space. Participants are welcome to participate at their comfort le
 vel and will leave with practical communication strategies and information
  about KAPWB programs and supports for families and caregivers.
