SUMMARY:Communication & Connection with Autistic Children and Teens
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Community Discussion\nThis virtual discussion offers pa
 rents and caregivers practical insight into how autistic children and teen
 s may communicate and how adults can respond in ways that reduce conflict 
 and strengthen connection. Many communication challenges arise not from a 
 lack of willingness to communicate\, but from differences in how informati
 on\, emotions\, and sensory experiences are processed.\nGuided by a mental
  health professional or experienced facilitator (to be announced)\, this i
 nteractive workshop will:\n\n\n 	\nExplore common communication difference
 s in autism\, including verbal and non-verbal expression\n\n 	\nDiscuss ho
 w sensory experiences\, routines\, and stress can affect communication and
  behavior\n\n 	\nIntroduce practical tools such as visual supports\, clear
  and concrete language\, and structured choices\n\n 	\nDemonstrate simple 
 ways to reframe everyday phrases to support understanding and cooperation\
 n\n 	\nOffer opportunities for participants to reflect on real-life situat
 ions and practice more autism-friendly communication approaches\n\n\nThis 
 session is designed for parents\, caregivers\, and family members of autis
 tic children and teens who want to build stronger\, more supportive commun
 ication patterns at home.\nThe discussion will take place in a respectful 
 and supportive learning environment. Participants are welcome to share at 
 their comfort level and will leave with practical strategies\, example lan
 guage they can try at home\, and information about KAPWB supports and futu
 re programs.
